Remember that great Dan Acroyd line from Saturday Night Live where he says to Jane Curtain, "Jane, you ignorant slut," and then blasts her for some dumb comment she made on the latest news report?
In Hillary Flip-Flops, Contradicts Bill & Herself... at the NY Daily News, Hillary is totally worthy of being called an ignorant something or other.
Sen. Hillary Clinton scored with a Democratic audience last night by contradicting her husband's belief that a terrorist could be tortured to foil an imminent plot - but what observers didn't know is she was contradicting herself, too.
"It cannot be American policy, period," Clinton (D-N.Y.) told debate moderator Tim Russert, who asked if there should be a presidential exemption to allow the torture of a terror chieftain if authorities knew a bomb was about to go off, but didn't know where it was.
When Russert revealed ex-President Bill Clinton advocated such a policy on a recent NBC "Meet the Press" appearance, Hillary Clinton won huge applause from the Dartmouth College audience with a deadpan comeback:
"Well, I'll talk to him later."
She may have to give herself that talk, too.
Last October, Clinton told the Daily News: "If we're going to be preparing for the kind of improbable but possible eventuality, then it has to be done within the rule of law."
She said then the "ticking time bomb" scenario represents a narrow exception to her opposition to torture as morally wrong, ineffective and dangerous to American soldiers.
"In the event we were ever confronted with having to interrogate a detainee with knowledge of an imminent threat to millions of Americans, then the decision to depart from standard international practices must be made by the President, and the President must be held accountable," she said.
She'll say anything and count on the press to cover for her.
Hillary, you ignorant wench. Yeah, I prefer calling her a "wench."
Several times she refused to give answers, but she couldn't duck when Russert threw her a curveball, asking if she would back the Yankees or Chicago Cubs, her childhood home team, if they met in the World Series. So she waffled.
"Well, I would probably have to alternate sides," she said.
Or maybe she's says nothing at all.

The Shamnesty Dream Act
If you thought that anyone in Washington listened to your outrage over their attempt at the last amnesty bill, think again. They are so determined to fulfill their own agendas, they will piece it together tagged onto other bills. Stop them. Before we can vote them out, voice your opinion, again!

From NumbersUSA:
These Senators Still Waffling on Vote on DREAM Amnesty
(September 21) Today, the Senate is debating H.R. 1585, the Defense Department authorization bill for fiscal year 2008. At some point during the debate, open-borders senators may attempt to attach three proposals that, when taken together, would grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and dramatically increase the importation of foreign workers at a time 10 million Americans are looking for jobs and can't find employment.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has not announced when a vote will occur on the DREAM Act amnesty amendment (now SA 2919). Reid did announce, however, that no more votes will occur this week, and that the Senate will hold only one vote today on an unrelated defense matter. In other words, any potential vote on SA 2919 will not occur until next week.
It will take 41 NO votes to kill this amnesty. Currently, only 21 Senators are telling their constituents that they will vote NO on the amnesty.

HIllary Slings Mud
Or, "The Pot Calling The Kettle Black"
Hillary is one to sling mud. She's not exactly devoid of personal maritial problems...
(New York Post) September 20, 2007 -- A top campaign adviser to Hillary Rodham Clinton says Rudy Giuliani's stormy personal life will be fair game should he win the Republican nomination for president.
"There's a lot that the rest of the country is going to get to know about Mayor Giuliani that the folks in New York City know," said Tom Vilsack, former Iowa governor and a co-chairman of the Clinton campaign.
"I can't even get into the number of marriages and the fact that his children - the relationship he has with his children - and what kind of circumstances New York was in before Sept. 11," Vilsack said during an interview on NY1 last night.
"There are lot of issues involving Mayor Giuliani . . . He's got a very interesting past."
The Clinton campaign's mudslinging against Giuliani's personal life is surprising, given the New York senator's struggles with her own marriage to philandering former President Bill Clinton, and other White House scandals.
The Giuliani campaign declined comment.
******
Hillary, the Phony. Maybe Juanita Broderick, Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Elizabeth Ward Gracen, Sally Perdue and Dolly Kyle Browning have something to say on the matter... and don't forget the women who are now dead.
Then there's always the "rumored" affairs: Marilyn Jo Jenkins - rumored Susan Coleman - rumored (suicide 7.5 months pregnant), Robyn Dickey -rumored, stafferLenora Steinkamp - rumored - mystery jogger on video tape entering the "infamous hallway" with Clinton, Kimba Wood - rumored, Judge, Kelley Craighead - rumored, staffer to Bill and Hillary, Sharline Wilson - rumored, claimed drug association, Dee Dee Myers - rumored, staffer, Suzie Whitacre - rumored, Catherine Cornelius - rumored, "distant cousin", Cheryl Mills - rumored, WH attorney, Secret Paramour (per Tripp/King interview) - rumored
there's more... unless Hillary wants their dirty little secrets re-examined, she may want to stick to politics.

Hillary Scare Care

Michael D. Tanner, director of health and welfare studies at the Cato Institute, a Libertarian think-tank writes:
Here we go again. HillaryCare is back, and its apparent that Sen. Clinton has learned little since the American people overwhelmingly rejected her last attempt to overhaul the U.S. health care system. Once again her plan, which would cost $110 billion per year in new taxes, calls for greater government control over American health care. If her plan were to pass this time, it would mean higher taxes, lost jobs, less patient choice, and poorer quality health care.
Among the worst features of her proposal:
An individual mandate. Sen. Clinton would require every American to purchase health insurance or face penalties. There are many problems with such a mandate. It restricts individual choice and liberty. It will require a massive new bureaucracy to enforce. And it sets in motion a whole series of regulatory requirements that will ultimately lead to greater government control of our health care.
An employer mandate. Sen. Clinton would impose a “play or pay “ mandate on American businesses, requiring them to provide workers with health insurance or pay an additional tax into a government insurance fund. Such a mandate simply increases the cost of hiring workers, meaning employers will inevitably hire fewer workers. Some may even be forced to layoff current employees and others will offset their costs by reducing wages or wage increases.
Maryland tried to do this, and a federal judge threw it out as unconstitutional. But it's in Mrs. Clinton's plan.
Expanding government programs. Sen. Clinton would expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to provide benefits for middle-class families. Yet studies show that many of those who would be covered by such an expansion already have private health insurance. Thus, Sen. Clinton would simply be moving people from private insurance to taxpayer-funded government care. She would also allow people under age 65 to “buy-in” to Medicare despite the fact that the program is already facing a financial crisis.
Rush Limbaugh commented: "She's going to let congressional committees fill in the details, which means -- what wacko in the Senate runs that committee? I know in the House it's John Dingell that would be in charge of it. Who runs the health committee in the Senate? That's right, it's Kennedy's committee! So Teddy Kennedy would be plugging in the details. That's what she says, and that's to keep the heat off of her, when this happened. As I mentioned, folks, if you get out the Constitution and you look at it, you will not find where it outlines, or experiments, or specifies the federal government is granted the power to force citizens to buy anything, let alone a health insurance policy. Now, I can't find it in my Constitution. There's nothing in there that says it. In fact, the whole Constitution was written to limit the power of the federal government, and now we supposedly can find a way in there that the federal government can make you buy anything. Once you let them tell you that you have to buy health insurance, what the hell else are they going to then tell you you have to buy once the precedent is set?"
Insurance regulation. Senator Clinton would require insurance companies to accept all applicants regardless of their health, and would impose “community rating” on health insurance premiums. As a result the young and healthy will be forced to pay more in order to subsidize the older and sicker. And those who practice healthy lifestyles will pay more to subsidize the irresponsible. With health care, as with so many other things, Hillary Clinton clearly trusts big government more than she trusts the free market and the American people.
Every American will be "required to purchase health insurance or face penalties."
Are you scared now?

The Truth About Ignorant, Spoiled College Kids

An interesting fellow who reads my blog alerted me to this opinion piece, written for the Columbia Spectator by a Barnard College student named Idris Leppla. The op/ed piece is titled The Truth About Academies, as in Military Academies. http://www.columbiaspectator.com/node/26470 (read the entire column)Before I bristled at the title, I knew it had to be written by a kid who doesn't attend a military academy. In her own words, she is impressed by her college of choice: "I know why I chose Columbia: the campus is magnificent, the education is top-tier, and my peers are intelligent. I could look at a stranger, tell him or her that I went to Columbia, and hear the predictable, “Wow, you must be smart.”
When my brother was getting ready to go to the Naval Academy, everyone ooohed and awed about how brave he was. Aunts and uncles would say, “John, you must be one of thousands of kids who wanted to go—you must be so smart!” When he appeared unsure about whether he wanted to choose Navy or University of California, Berkeley, one uncle who works on Wall Street said, “John, businessmen love hiring people from the academies. You will be set for life.” With that kind of promised prestige, my brother found it tough to give up a spot at Navy. So in June, my family dropped him off in Annapolis."

None of the young people I have met and talked to at the USNA chose it because of the "promised prestige." Most of the midshipmen at the USNA are very clear that they chose a military academy because they wanted to be a part of America's military, as well as getting a college education. They know they will be in the Navy or Marines deployed somewhere in the world, as soon as one week upon graduation.
She continues:"Soon that pride turned to anger and fear: after my mom dropped him off at Annapolis, she came home with an acute sense of grief. The only thing she could talk about was how to get him out. In addition to missing his presence at home, she was scared by the extent to which her son had suddenly become the property of the U.S. Navy.
She begged me to call a naval lieutenant Monday morning to start the out-processing forms for my brother. After leaving countless messages for the lieutenant, he finally called me back, at which point he informed me that my brother would have to go through 13 exit-interviews to be dismissed, including an interview with the head of the Navy. When I asked him whether this might intimidate him out of leaving, the lieutenant reminded me that my brother had signed an oath legally binding him to the Navy. When I reminded the lieutenant that he had signed that oath after he had been yelled at all day and that his hair had just been shaven off during his first day there, he comforted me that John was not at all forced to sign the oath."

My husband and I were there on Induction Day. We saw our son's face as he departed the life he knew and walked through the doors of the USNA. And then we saw him 8 hours later - (3rd photo above) exhausted, hot, intimidated, eyes twitching from stress, and feeling unsure of himself for the first time in a very long time...he and 1,000 other bright, capable young people. They all went through culture shock on Induction Day - BY DESIGN. Yes, it was a difficult time for a mom and dad, seeing our sweet boy questioning what he was doing. However, he knew it would be difficult. He know it would challenge him to the core. And he knew he could do it.
The subsequent letters we received from him increasingly showed hope, strength, success, fellowship, and purpose. We wrote nearly everyday of the six-week long Plebe Summer. He told us how much he looked forward to reading our letters, how he needed our love and support.
At the end of Plebe Summer - a 6 grueling weeks - we went back to see him (1st and 2nd photos). We were met with an amazing sight... the 18-year old recent high school graduate we left was now a beautiful, tall, 18-year old man. He was in his dress-whites standing more erect than I have ever seen him. He was proud. He had succeeded without waffling, without excuses, and in fact, "liked Plebe Summer." He declared that it was not as hard as he thought it would be. He made the Offshore Sailing Team. He made new friends. He even made friends with career Naval Officers because of his tenacity, hard work and phenomenal attitude. We met his new roommates - a young man from Alabama and another young man from Peru by way of Louisiana.
We knew he would make it because we already knew he possessed these remarkeable traits. The United States Naval Academy brings these out in him even more.
Today we spoke on the phone, as we do almost daily. He told me about his Chemistry and Calculus classes, and about his leadership class. He is thriving in the USNA environment, excited about his future as well as his purpose. He knows what he is doing at the USNA. How many college students can say that?
I feel sorry for Idris Leppla, the author of the column. She is the epitome of the "It's All About Me" generation. She didn't need to display her ignorance of the military academies quite so dramatically through her bitter words. But she did. And she received 446 comments for her shameful, spoiled and selfish writing.
She ends her op/ed with these selfish words: "My brother ended up liking Annapolis and he has decided to stay. While it has been difficult for me to accept that I have a brother in the military, I must allow him to pursue whatever path he is drawn toward, and he has admitted to me that he feels called to being there. However, for anyone else out there considering a career in the academy, let it be known: the U.S. Naval Academy is not an elite college; it is first and foremost a branch of the U.S. military and the prestige comes at a big price—it taxes parents, siblings, and participants if they do not understand what they were signing up for."
Idris Leppla is so self-absorbed that she thinks anyone cares how she now has to accept that her brother is staying at the Naval Academy. She is a stupid, ignorant child who embodies the expression, "now I know why tigers eat their young." It sound to me that her equally selfish parents did not do a very good job of understanding their son either. And how embarrassing for the son at the USNA whose sister and mother called his superior officer trying to get him out.
Too many ignorant parents see only the "free" education, and then panic when they realize their child has signed on with the military. This is supposed to be ferreted out during the application process, but not always. Too many ignorant and selfish people cannot fathom why a young person would feel a calling for the military. They can't be bothered with caring about military people - even after our country was attacked. How quickly we forget, and retreat to our spoiled ways.
One reader wrote this insightful comment:
"As a '92 Grad I speak from a point of experience in that the Academy wasn't a stroll in the park.
Institutions like USNA have a long standing, well deserved reputation for being tough to get into, and tough to graduate from.
But I'll set aside Ms. Leppa's cosmic ignorance for one moment to address the more troubling issue at hand.
Guess what, "it" America, Freedom, Honor, Courage, Commitment aren't about "you." It isn't about your next pedicure, or the doodles in your notebook.
It isn't about what is owed to you, or what you can expect to get back, or how you will personally profit.
The Academies are about becoming something bigger than yourself. Service. Yes, service in the military. (Oh, how vulgar you must say)
Your article is a fine example of disservice, miss. I suggest you wake up and grow up." (Well said)

Idris Leppla, is a spoiled, punk of a young woman. Hopefully she read all 446 comments and heeds their advise. And I hope she is confused by people's outrage. She can't possibly love her brother enough to understand his calling, his wishes, his dream. Instead she wants him to want what she has... ignorance, "safety," and life in the liberal educational bubble. Selfishness and self-absorption is running rampant in this country. Thankfully not at the USNA, West Point, or at Colorado Springs.
And just for another perspective, read the daily schedule of Midshipmen at the USNA:
5:30 a.m. Arise for personal fitness workout (optional)
6:30 a.m Reveille (all hands out of bed)
6:30-7:00 a.m Special instruction period for plebes
7:00 a.m. Morning meal formation

5:00-7:00 p.m. Supper
7:30-11 p.m. Study period for all midshipmen
11:00 p.m. Lights out for plebes
Midnight: Taps for upperclass

I challenge Idris Leppla to this schedule. She couldn't handle the level of commitment, mental or physical stress, given her obvious selfishness. God bless her brother, and all of the Midshipmen at the USNA. I know my son is doing what's right for him. (Doesn't he look happier in the 1st & 2nd photos now that Plebe Summer is over!)

Hillary Knew Hsu
Calling the Clinton's liars is redundant. But still, I had this thought the other day: how could the Clintons not know who Norman Hsu was? They still have Secret Service protection and as such, the Secret Service require everyone's name, DOB, SS#... in other words, details are required to even get near the Clintons..
And then today Michelle Malkin writes: "I got an e-mail from a law enforcement source this week wondering how Hillary Clinton could possibly have been ignorant of Norman Hsu’s shenanigans given that both she and her husband are protected by Secret Service:"
Hsu as a key Dem fundraiser had access to VIP among the Dem party like the Clintons. Both Mr. and Mrs. Clinton are protected by the Secret Service. SOP for law enforcement protection details is to check the criminal background of those who might come in contact with the protectees.
As you probably are already aware, it is well known that usually the Secret Service asks for, at a minimum, full legal name, DOB and SSN of those who get anywhere near/attend events with, SS protectees, so they can run a record check. (FYI the Secret Service record check is, ‘unofficially’, considered one of the most extensive that can be done by US law enforcement.)
So if the Secret Service knew for years that Hsu was a wanted FUGITIVE why did they:
1. Not do anything?
2. Allow him anywhere near any important (high value) targets like either of the Clintons?
Alternatively, if the SS did not do its basic ‘due diligence’ check then the questions are even more pointed:
1. Why not? Who ordered them not to do it, and why? (What did the Clinton’s know and when did they know it?)
2. Was the Clinton (and by extension the Democrat fundraising machine) so focused on money that they would violate basic security protacal… letting a wanted, fugitive, felon (of questionable background — from part of the world where their are many hostile to US governmental interests) get into the “inner circle” simply because of the cash?

Another Clinton Casualty?
Well, well, well... isn't this funny?
In my post Hillary Returns $850,000 of Dirty Money I wrote: "Watch to see if Norman Hsu even makes it out alive... $10 bucks says he dies mysteriously."
WSJ: Before Democratic fund-raiser Norman Hsu skipped a court hearing and temporarily vanished last week, he typed out a suicide note and sent copies to several acquaintances and charitable organizations, according to people who received it.
The one-page note, signed by Mr. Hsu, “very explicitly said he intended to commit suicide,” said one of the recipients in an account corroborated by others, including law-enforcement officials. Mr. Hsu also apologized for putting anybody “through inconvenience or trouble,” the recipient said.
What's so bizarre is this from Michelle Malkin: In the late afternoon of Sept. 6, several hours before Norman Hsu was apprehended in Colorado, I got a curious visit on my website. Someone had Googled “Norman Hsu suicide.” My site came up in the search results because someone had made reference to Vince Foster’s suicide in the comments of one of my Hsu posts.
According to my public Sitemeter referral log, the visitor who Googled “Norman Hsu suicide” came from this law firm: Sack Harris & Martin, P.C., in McLean, Va.
I thought it was strange, made a mental note of the search, and bookmarked the law firm’s website, but did not blog about it.
Flip Pidot wonders: “Here’s what I don’t get - if Hsu was indeed suicidal over the “wave of press in recent weeks that raised questions about his political fund-raising and business activities,” and he FedExed the suicide note before getting on the train with a fistful of pills, why the coordinated attempts at suicide and unlawful flight? Was one backup, in case the other didn’t work?”
We have not heard the whole story yet. It sure would have been convenient for Hillary if he had died.

We have not heard the whole story yet. It sure would have been convenient for Hillary if he had died.

Nope, .....I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little blonde kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone lest they be guilty of profiling.
Send this to as many people as you can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other dunder-headed attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel doubly ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense.
As the writer of the award winning story "Forrest Gump" so aptly put it, "Stupid is as stupid does!"

Hillary Returns $850,000 of Dirty Money
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign said Monday it will return $850,000 in donations raised by Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu, who is under federal investigation for allegedly violating election laws.
***read my post The Clinton's Are At It Again
Clinton, D-N.Y., previously had planned only to give to charity $23,000 she received from Hsu for her presidential and senatorial campaigns and to her political action committee, HillPac.
The FBI is investigating whether Hsu paid so-called straw donors to send campaign contributions to Clinton and other candidates, a law enforcement official said Monday. (Drudge report)
"In light of recent events and allegations that Mr. Norman Hsu engaged in an illegal investment scheme, we have decided out of an abundance of caution to return the money he raised for our campaign," Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said in a statement Monday night. "An estimated 260 donors this week will receive refunds totaling approximately $850,000 from the campaign."
Wolfson said the Clinton campaign also will vigorously review its fundraisers, including thorough criminal background checks, in the future. "In any instances where a source of a bundler's income is in question, the campaign will take affirmative steps to verify its origin," he said.
The amount that the campaign identified as raised by Hsu would make him one of her top fundraisers. During the first six months of this year, her presidential campaign raised $52 million from individual contributors, second to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., who raised $58.5 million.
***********
Only the Clintons would have to do criminal background checks on their fundraisers.
***********
Hsu pleaded no contest in 1991 to accusations that he defrauded investors of $1 million. He was facing up to three years in prison when he skipped town before his sentencing in 1992. He finally surrendered to the arrest warrant Aug. 31, but disappeared before last week's hearing where he was expected to turn over his passport and ask a judge to cut his $2 million bail in half.
Wolfson said the Clinton campaign was "unaware of Mr. Hsu's decade- plus old warrant," despite what he described as a thorough review of public records.
****************
Yeah, they didn't know Hsu was a fugitive from justice, anymore than they knew that every one of the "Chinagate" illegal contributors fled the country and disappeared before prosecution in the 1990's.
Watch to see if Norman Hsu even makes it out alive... $10 bucks says he dies mysteriously.
And if that's not enough of a Clinton bad taste, "Just days after the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Hillary Clinton and several Democratic lawmakers will be getting uncomfortably cozy with moneyed interests who have stood to reap billions in post-9/11 homeland security spending, watchdog groups say."
One week later, the junior New York senator is scheduled to speak at a homeland security-themed, $1,000-a-plate fundraiser for her campaign in the downtown Washington, D.C. offices of a powerful legal firm.
"Being a week after 9/11, it appears unseemly and politically opportunistic," said Steve Ellis, a former Coast Guard officer who is now vice president of Taxpayers for Common Sense, a Washington, D.C. good government group.
Clinton's fundraising audience is expected to include many of the government contractors and lobbyists whose fortunes have soared in the years since the attacks, which triggered a massive government reorganization and billions in new government spending.
But that's not the only objectionable feature of the event, critics say.
For the price of a ticket -- from a $1,000 personal donation to a $25,000 bundle –- attendees will get a special treat after the luncheon: an opportunity to participate in small, hour-long "breakout sessions" hosted by key Democratic lawmakers, many of whom chair important subcommittees on the Homeland Security committee. " (ABC news)
Oh Hillary, you are the epitome of bad taste, ruthless in your desperation for power and obviously will stop at nothing.

Al Gore - ECO WARRIOR - Likes His Luxury
Al Gore spends his days jetting the globe, lecturing about saving the planet and how America's wasteful ways cause Global Warming. Poor Al. But wait. He must have friends as he is regularly spotted on private jets...

FOXNEWS host Sean Hannity is set to unleash the damning video this Sunday night, network sources reveal."

The Clinton's Are At It Again
Who do the Clintons think they are fooling? After killing Kathleen Willey's cat and terrorizing her before the Paula Jones trial, now they stage another break-in at her home and steal her tell-all manuscript. What next - will they hire a hit on her?
Two days before her Paula Jones trial testimony, she was approached at dawn by a stranger while walking in her neighborhood. The man threatened her and her children, and references were made to her damaged car and missing 13-year-old pet. The message, she said, was clear: Remain silent.
Nice people, the Clintons.
WorldNetDaily: Kathleen Willey, the woman who says Bill Clinton groped her in the Oval Office, claims she was the target of an unusual house burglary over the weekend that nabbed a manuscript for her upcoming book, which promises explosive revelations that could damage Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
Willey told WND little else was taken from her rural Virginia home as she slept alone upstairs – electronics and jewelry were left behind – and she believes the Clintons were behind it.
The break-in, she said, reminded her of the widely reported incident 10 years ago in which she claimed she was threatened near the same Richmond-area home by a stranger just two days before she was to testify against President Clinton in the Paula Jones sexual harassment case.
The theft of the manuscript early Saturday morning was suspicious, she told WND, coming only days after the first mainstream media mention of her upcoming book, which is expected to include accusations of campaign finance violations and new revelations about harassment and threats by the Clintons and their associates.

Nothing like instilling support through fear - that's the only way Hillary can get elected. She's a dangerous shrew.

Bad Reporting
"SUV hits and kills woman!"
"Train kills two..."
"Car loses control and plows through crowd killing 10."
Headlines today scream stupidity... but are headlines stupid? No, people are stupid. "Reporters" are apparently stupid, as well as the talking heads on television.
Cars don't kill people. Trains don't kill people. SUV's don't lose control.
The idiotic, stupid or drunk driver behind the wheel of the car is responsible for plowing through a crowd. The stupid woman who planted her car on train tracks is responsible for her death - not the train.
But no one is responsible for their actions anymore, particularly if they are a member of a protected ethnic/disabled/gender/gender challenged group. The elderly disabled man is not responsible for killing 5 people on a sidewalk - his Buick is.
The poor quality of journalism we are subjected to today is reprehensible. Bad grammar, slang, stupid commentaries at the end of every story is now the standard, and no longer stands out.
Why should it? Most Editors are obviously incapable of using proper grammar, so why should they expect their supermodel news hosts to use it, or writers to write correctly?
The grammar mistakes in print would be deplorable if they weren't so embarrassing.
The Sacramento Bee ran a headline today: "Trains kill three people in Davis." Who writes this stuff?
Here are more stupid headlines:
Something Went Wrong in Jet Crash, Expert Says
Police Begin Campaign to Run Down Jaywalkers
Safety Experts Say School Bus Passengers Should Be Belted
Iraqi Head Seeks Arms
Is There a Ring of Debris around Uranus?
Panda Mating Fails; Veterinarian Takes Over
Lung Cancer in Women Mushrooms
Teacher Strikes Idle Kids
Squad Helps Dog Bite Victim
Enraged Cow Injures Farmer with Ax
Plane Too Close to Ground, Crash Probe Told
Juvenile Court to Try Shooting Defendant
Stolen Painting Found by Tree
Two Sisters Reunited after 18 Years in Checkout Counter
Drunken Drivers Paid $1000 in `84
War Dims Hope for Peace
If Strike isn't Settled Quickly, It May Last a While
Cold Wave Linked to Temperatures
Enfields Couple Slain; Police Suspect Homicide
Red Tape Holds Up New Bridge
Deer Kill 17,000
Typhoon Rips Through Cemetery; Hundreds Dead
Man Struck by Lightning Faces Battery Charge
New Study of Obesity Looks for Larger Test Group
Astronaut Takes Blame for Gas in Spacecraft
Kids Make Nutritious Snacks
Arson Suspect is Held in Massachusetts Fire
British Union Finds Dwarfs in Short Supply
Lansing Residents Can Drop Off Trees
Local High School Dropouts Cut in Half
New Vaccine May Contain Rabies
Prosecutor Releases Probe into Undersheriff
Old School Pillars are Replaced by Alumni
Bank Drive-in Window Blocked by Board
Hospitals are Sued by 7 Foot Doctors
Some Pieces of Rock Hudson Sold at Auction
Sex Education Delayed, Teachers Request Training
Include your Children when Baking Cookies
People were paid to write this garbage. We can laugh about it now, but this is an embarrassing example of lazy, dumbed-down American education.
Use correct grammar anyway; you will stand out and sound intelligent, unlike most of America.
