It looks as if the Angelides campaign hacked into and downloaded - and leaked to the media - a recording of a private meeting in which Governor Schwarzenegger described Hispanic legislator Bonnie Garcia as having a "very hot" (Latina) personality.
AP -- The campaign of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Democratic rival acknowledged Tuesday that it downloaded - and leaked to the media - a recording of a private meeting in which the governor described a Hispanic legislator as having a "very hot" personality.
But Cathy Calfo, campaign manager for Democrat Phil Angelides, said the campaign had done nothing wrong because the file was available publicly on the governor's Web site.
Treasurer Phil Angelides, said the governor "used language that is deeply offensive to all Californians." He also graciously reminded anyone listening that this was "a disturbing pattern of behavior" we have come to expect of Schwarzenegger.
Thes comments from the guy responsible for hacking into the Governor's private computer server? Phil Angelides should have taken the high road on this one and kept his mouth shut. He came out looking like a dirty politician. "No comment" should have been his comment.
Angelides exhibits a disturbing pattern of behavior of calling names, attacking people and making himself look like the very small man he is. He wouldn't know the high road if he lived on it.
Michelle Malkin weighs in: The Democrats' p.c. privacy-invading attempt to embarrass Calif. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has blown up in their faces. Good. My feelings about Arnie are lukewarm, but this was a gobsmackingly stupid attack by the Dems on two levels--not only from an ethics and legal standpoint, but also on the substance. Trying to play "gotcha" over the governor's harmless private comments?
State Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia, R-Cathedral City, the subject of the governor's comments, had the right attitude:
State Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia, R-Cathedral City, says the leaked comments Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger made about her were not offensive and the leak was clearly politically motivated.
"It's eight weeks from an election; I'm not surprised," Garcia said Saturday in an interview with The Desert Sun.
"I absolutely see it as an attempt by a fledging (Phil) Angelides campaign on its last leg trying to gain political traction from this."
The Angelides campaign people can deny hacking all day long, but the public doesn't buy it. Even on the very liberal local KCRA Channel 3 news last night with Dave and Lois, their viewers poll showed that 70% of the viewers who responded thought Angelides came out the worst in this debacle.
Bad behavior usually bites you in the butt. When will Phil ever learn this lesson? Perhaps he ought to reflect more deeply on this situation for and understanding why even his party won't support him in this election; his years playing offensive politics have made him no friends.
But Phil's ego won't let that deter him. His ego is bigger than even the Governator.

Phil will get his just desserts. You reap what you sow.
Yes, I am confident he will.
